A Field Guide to, er, Fields
To badly paraphrase Rachel Carson, if a child is to keep the inborn
sense of wonder he or she is born with, they'll need the companionship
of an adult who has a decent grasp of what is going on in the natural
world, among other places. To that end, a group of Cornwall, Connecticut's most
wonder-full naturalists compiled a seasonal, poetic Field Guide
to Cornwall's fields and meadows in support of a series of "old-style life skills" classes created by the not-for-profit foundation, Motherhouse. Printed and assembled by hand and
gilded with beautiful reproductions of Cornwall artist Ellen Moon's watercolors, the chap book is a lovely cheat sheet for parents and an inspiration to
all to sit and watch the hedgerow. Letterpress printed in a limited, numbered
edition of 200, each Field Guide is $25. To order a copy of this Eye Candy Pro Bono production, write to Motherhouse founder Debra Tyler.
